Input/Output error during read on /dev/i2o/hda

Asked by MikeBou

I am trying to install Ubuntu Server 7.04 on an Intel L440GX+ motherboard, 1gb RAM, Three Seagate 18gb SCSI Cheetah drives using single channel hardware Intel Server RAID Controller SRCU21 based on the i960 chip and LSI Logic SYM53C895 SCSI controller. This is an I20 1.5 specification product. I get this error after it recognises the raided drive and wants to write the partitioning to the drive: Input/Output error during read on /dev/i2o/hda. Is this a bug that is being worked on, or is my only option to give 6.06 a try.

This is a known problem with the 2.6.6.20 kernel and it is worked on. It seems that a patch is available and it is included in 2.6.21.

Thanks Witold, The problem is that this new kernel is currently not part of the iso image available for download and I don't know of any way to insert the new kernel into an iso image to allow the installation to work. So we installed the 6.10 version of Ubuntu server instead and that seems to have loaded happily. Thanks again for your reply.
