Installation bug??

Asked by aiwagan

I have tried to install ubuntu 5.10. During the the extra package copying phase it says that installer is not able to copy packages to the drive.
I have similar problem with installing earlier version of ubuntu but it was resolved by increasing the swap size. NOw it is not working it usually happens with large packages.

I am using Acer Travelmate 4000 series laptop with 256 MB RAM.

I need to resolve this problem. Or is this a bug in the installer?

This generally indicates a bad CD burn, or sometimes a dirty lens on the CD drive. I recommend trying to burn the CD image at a lower speed; failing that, I've had good results from CD drive cleaning kits.
