CD-ROM Error

Asked by Jamie

Trying to install Server 7.04 on an IBM eServer xSeries 360. During install or a check check get the error: ".../install/initrd.gz failed the MD5 checksum". Have tried it on two other identical servers, with the same result. However the same CD is fine on a Sony laptop.

In final? The last test is on the Sony laptop's optical drive?
The CD is not damaged in an IBM server's optical drive?

HEUREKA!!!!!!!!!

The iso is badly packaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The iso-s checksum is good!

...
NOT FOUND ***** ./install/netboot/pxelinux.cfg/default
FAILED MD5 ./install/netboot/pxelinux.0
...

the file ./install/netboot/pxelinux.0 size is zero bytes in iso nad the writed CD!
and the md5 hash checkers shows error for an invalid /md5sum.txt!!!!!!!!

In final I can examine: the error (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/128737)
in WINDOWS XP PRO OEM SP2 + ALL UPDATES,
this badly recognize some funny folder names and links from a CD.
