Touchpad and Mouse are the same for system

Asked by cojack

Few days ago I water flooded the laptop(notebook) and my touchpad lmb(left mouse button) doesn't works. So I buy a mouse and pluged in. Wherever in mouse lmb doesn't works to! So whats is diferent for me? In the new epoch of Xserver, we don't have to configure it by my self, wherever in KDE we have System Settings panel, and Mouse and Keboard subpanel for configure it. But it's still doesn't split, mouse and touchpad IF EXISTS.

Leet me see:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

list:
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=02b1
N: Name="SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio4/input0
S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input10
U: Uniq=
H: Handlers=mouse2 event10
B: EV=b
B: KEY=420 70000 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=11000003

I think it's diferent from mouse, but why it's still the same pointing device for linux? If we have all the time remove something from the system by my self, like now, I have to remove psmouse module to working lmb in pluged in mouse.

It'll be very felpfull If we don't have to penetrate the system to turn off the device.

Regards,
Przemysław Czekaj aka cojack.

P.S. We will be always behind the windows system, as linux desktop system(for end users) while it'll not be more automaticly and inteligently operations managed by kernel/hal/dbus/ whatever .

Disable the integrated device in bios if you can, also try removing the xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package

At what point is an OS "behind" another OS?It makes no sense. Even if Linux based systems were more used than Windows ones, the devs would still code away and users would still log bugs, nothing would change. Stop being a fanboy and realise an OS is a tool for a job. If Windows suits your needs then use Windows, if Linux can do a better job then use Linux. It's not a case of "one is better than the other". There are times when AppleMac is a fantastic choice and offers capabilities which cannot be matched by either Linux nor Windows. Grow up.

Don't try to be funny, every one who chose linux to work, (for example I) know why linux not windows, it's a freedom, but It's a suggestion for next view of concept to make linux more user friendly dude. Some one on irc channel says, "If we don't suggest our idea, and don't report a bugs, so what the crap of community we are?" If linux will be more friendly and I see those change at the years since 2000 year(I know it's only 10 years) but many things was change, and now environments it's very usefull and user friendly, but not exactly att all. I wish and is my dream to see on the future linux who will be more usefull and helpfull than I ever think.

I can't disable it in bios ;/ but thanks for hit.

Best regads,

Let us know how you go, to some (including me) even things in windows which seem basic take me ages.

My system which is detected 100% in linux out of the box took 2 HOURS to setup sound and crank the pagefile. I look after Windows servers all day but found it very hard.
