Hello,

How long have you tried waiting at the spinning cursor?
Are you able to boot using the live CD? If yes, can you boot into Recovery mode (press Esc when the GRUB message is displayed just before startup), and then type /etc/init.d/gdm start

i have tried waiting for about 45 minutes. I am able to boot using both the live cd and recovery mode. I will try your suggestion shortly.
