most recent 9.10 update clobbered USB, disc burning

Asked by Mathew Hennessy

The update to 9.10 has killed my system's USB and disc burning capability, except for keyboard/mouse . An attached iPod mini is scrolling errors in dmesg, and an attached uvcvideo-compatible webcam is simply not recognized at all regardless of direct-attach or hub port attachment. This wasn't happening prior to the most recent update: things were working quite well.

This is on an x58 mobo with core i7 920 CPU.

I think you should file a bug report; you've got sufficient details here that I think you're beyond a simple "ask a question".. :)

I've got a nearly identical setup: x58, i7 920, Linux haig 2.6.31-17-generic #54-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 10 17:01:44 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have to admit that my USB uses are pretty small: I think I used this kernel for copying a ton of data off USB mass storage devices, and I have probably used this kernel to do -something- to my Sony Reader. I can read all the photos on my Blackberry just fine.

Good luck.

Can you help with this problem?
