Spanish Planet Ubuntu

As we discussed in IRC, here's the plan:

The sysadmins are happy to implement planeta.ubuntu.com, but they don't want a dead planet... The solution is to create a petition. Once 5 spanish bloggers who have been blogging actively for a while post links to their site as replies to this support request the admins will create it.

Obviously the goal is to get many more than just 5, so spread the word.

Note that there seems to be already a Spanish language blog aggregation here:

It seems to have a considerable number of posts per day. The creation of a rival site would seem to be a bad idea.

ubuntu-es is Spain, not Spanish. There is no "Spanish" unified loco team as far as I know. Probably want to check with Jono.

mdke: these blogs are related to ubuntu-es user accounts (managed by drupal). Any user can post anything.

As newz2000 says, we are looking for an unified Planet for LoCo members from Latin America. I have talked with many LoCo leaders and they are very happy with this idea.

I propose this idea such as a window into the community, live and work of Ubuntu spanish-speakers contributors. Alse we can interchange a lot of ideas to improve our community.

We are doing a lot if interesting things, and we consider very important if the world (other communities) can know our experiences.

+1 for this. I have added a "Planeta Ubuntu" category in my blog and will be inviting my team's members (Ubuntu Colombia) to do the same.

+1 From another member of the Colombian Team. Appart from individual blogs (which are in existance) I am prepared to set up a blog for the whole team to keep the community updated on our overall progress.

Willys, planeta.ubuntu.com could very well integrate ubuntu-lat.org's posts, but we are seeking support for planeta.ubuntu.com.

As Fabian explained, this idea is related to a special planet, only for spanish-spoken people.

A good example could be Planeta Gnome Hispano (http://planeta.es.gnome.org/)

ubuntu-es IS an Spanish LoCo, nos for Spain only but for all Spanish countries as you can see at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-es.

Interesting... for language teams we generally use the 3 character iso
code, not the two. Two letter codes are reserved for the country. So, in
theory, and I realize that maybe this plan was laid out after ubuntu-es
came into being, ubuntu-es should be for spain and ubuntu-esp should be
for a Spanish language team.

Cross reference the Ubuntu Tamil and Ubuntu Kurdish teams that both use
the three character name.

Oh well, I guess every rule has its exceptions. Thanks for clarifying
this.

It's been little over 3 years since the last comment on this question. Spanish Speaking LoCos have grown much, we currently have planets per countries and a single planet to integrate our efforts would fit us. this has been scheduled to be discussed in Spanish Speaking LoCos.

This would definitely help us organize our information and It would help us stick together with the Ubuntu Community as a whole helping bridge the language barrier

I agree. A Spanish Ubuntu Planet would help the Spanish Speaking LoCos coordinate new actions and better articulate our efforts. It would be a great plus for our community.

This would be great as a resource for the Spanish speaking community and nonetheless the visibility effect a planeta would give for those working in different part of the community that normally are not addressed in a per language basis.
