Not all the apps/sources on the website are in the Ubuntu Tweak program

Asked by jephrei

I find more sources and apps on the Ubuntu Tweak website than in the program itself. Is there something i can do to add them to the program? Can i add them all at once or do i have to add them one by one? Thank you for Ubtuntu Tweak. It's the 1st thing i install on any Ubuntu system.

This is because everyone can add Application and Source to the website. I will only add the "Featured" or "Trusted" application/source to Ubuntu Tweak.

In the future, I will try to make some changes of the policy, so that let user to use the extra app and source in the website.

Ok that explains it, but the difference is still confusing. Maybe the site should only allow you suggest new PPAs.
Also maybe the PPA for Ubuntu Kernel PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~kernel-ppa/+archive/ppa ) is very useful for tweakers.

Cheers and thanks for this great tool.

This is a suggestion.

I was trying to fix descriptions and some icons of a couple of other sources but I was not able, due to permissions.

Why don't you allow everyone to edit all the Sources and Applications, remove permissions kind of a Wiki mode.
And have only a few people mark it as Trusted and add a button to request Trusted approval from these people, when someone think is done with it. This way the Source and Applications will be more up to date.
When a Source or App is approved, make a snapshot so people can continue to edit the source or app on the website, and ubuntu tweak would see only the approved version.

Only trusted apps and sources would show or on the Ubuntu Tweak Desktop, but all other show up online.

sounds nice. but there should definitely be some serious moderating on it. even if the minimum was ten, ten people (fake or friends) could approved a malicious program.
