Czech translations team is unresponsive

Since a while we are using launchpad translations with structured permissions for managing RKWard translations (https://translations.launchpad.net/rkward). This works fine, mostly, but one of our most active and longest contributing translators (https://launchpad.net/~pavelfric) is having trouble with the setup, because he is simply not getting approved to the Launchpad Czech Translators team (https://launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-cs). This results in his translations being listed as mere Suggestions. It is possible for us to work around this, but this is rather cumbersome, and certainly not what we had in mind when we decided to manage translations on launchpad.

Pavel has applied for team memebership more than three months ago. Another applicant is also listed as waiting for approval since October. Eight days ago, I tried posting the following mail to the Czech team's mailing list. Apparently it got filtered into nothingness. On Monday, I sent the same mail to four active members of the Czech team, including the team's admin. No reaction. What should I do about an unresponsive translations team?

Dear Czech translation team,

this is to remind you that a request for approving Pavel Fric (fri) as member
of the Launchpad Czech Translators team is pending since more than three
months. Could you please add him?

If the problem is that you are in doubt about his qualification (despite his
extensive track record on launchpad: https://launchpad.net/~pavelfric), let me
add a few facts:

I'm lead developer of project RKWard. Pavel Fric has been the (only)
contributor of our Czech translation since October 2009. Admittedly, I don't
know the least bit of Czech, myself, but:

- Pavel has been working on this translation very actively, and it has been
one of our most complete translations ever since it was first added.
- When he saw problems, he has voiced his concerns actively and in a
constructive manner. He has had a considerable share in forming our
translations workflow, and in doing so, he has helped to raise completeness
and quality of all RKWard translations.
- I did not receive any complaint about the quality of the Czech translation,
ever since it was added. That stands in contrast to several of our other
translations.

Around October 2011, we started using launchpad for RKWard translations.
Initially as a complement to our old workflow, now we use launchpad as our
primary means for managing translations. We switched to launchpad hoping to
make it easier to manage translations. Unfortunately, for Pavel, things did
not get easier, but more troublesome, as he lacks appropriate permissions.
Please review his application for membership in your team, as soon as
possible.

Hi,

if none in the Launchpad Czech translators team is replying, we can ask Launchpad admin to change the owner/admin of the team. unfortunately it is something we, as Launchpad Translation Coordinators, cannot do.

Plese, allow a couple more days for your email to be replied, and if nobody replied, we can move forward (you might have to open a new question for that).

Well, i see that Pavel is marked as " proposed member" but i cannot
confirm him 'cause i am not team administrator. If Kuvaly (
https://launchpad.net/~kuvaly <https://launchpad.net/%7Ekuvaly>) is not
responding, then i would agree with changing the team admin to someone else.

Hi,

I am a member of the LP Czech translators team. This team is active, but unfortunately the admin isn't. I would suggest to change the admin rights to Vojtěch Trefný (https://launchpad.net/~vojtech.trefny). From my point of view this is an admin's problem. The members are not allowed to confirm new members and manage the team.

Tadeas has true. We (LP CZ team members) are not able to manage this issue. Vojta Trefny or Tadeas itself are skilled and active enought to be new team administrator(s).

Kuvaly is only admin in Launchpad Czech Translators team, regular members can't approve new members. I've found him on Facebook and sent him a message (but I'm not 100 % sure it's him).

I'm glad to see the Czech team itself is very much alife. However, another week has come and gone, and as far as I can see, there is still no response from the admin. I think that means it's time to go ahead and ask Launchpad admins to give one or two active members team admin permissions. But I guess that's something that's up to the team member to do, not for a bystander like myself.

As said on my previous answer, please open a new "question" and
address it to Launchpad itself.
In the new request include:
- Why you are making the request
- The link to the Launchpad team
- Who should be appointed as the owner/admin of the team (his/her
Launchpad profile page)
- Include maybe a reference about this request

That should be all and should give Launchpad admin enough infor to move forward.
In case, they can ping me or somebody else from the Launchpad
Translation Coordinators team on IRC.

yes, I did read that. But as I said, I think it should be somebody from the Czech team to request changing the admin, not me. Which is why I've re-opened the original ticket (assigned to the Czech team), instead.
