Please translate unity launcher quicklist entry 'Open a new tab' for firefox

Asked by Bilal Akhtar

The following change to the Firefox desktop files will be pushed to the Natty repositories:
--- firefox-4.0~rc2+build3+nobinonly/debian/firefox-final.desktop.in
+++ firefox-4.0~rc2+build3+nobinonly/debian/firefox-final.desktop.in
@@ -90,0 +91,7 @@
+
+X-Ayatana-Desktop-Shortcuts=NewTab;
+
+[NewTab Shortcut Group]
+Name=Open a new tab
+Exec=@APPNAME@ -new-tab about:blank
+TargetEnvironment=Unity

This change adds an option 'Open a new tab' to the Unity firefox icon launcher's right-click menu . It would be good if the text 'Open a new tab' was translated.

Hence, kindly set up translations for the same. Thanks!

Hi Bilal,

Thanks for working on this!

A couple of things:

1) "Name=Open a new tab" might need to be changed to "_Name=Open a new tab" to be marked for translation, although I'm not sure it is necessary in this particular case, as we'd probably add the translations manually?

2) Would "Open a new tab" not need to be capitalized to "Open a New Tab" as the other entries?

I've added the message to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/Wanted/FirefoxDesktop and I'll announce it to translators as soon as you give me the go.

Thanks David for the suggestions, suggestion 1 isn't needed here, since we have to add translations manually. Moreover, Name: is written in the main part of the desktop files, not _Name.

I've modified the debdiff according to suggestion 2. I have also made the required change on the Wiki page.

Thanks a lot for your help! Yes, please go ahead with the announcement to the translators.

Thanks again.
