What would Thunderbird need to have it shipped instead of Evolution?

You said in this bug report #1487017 that you would not ship Thunderbird instead of Evolution even though it is more advanced in many areas due to its lack of integration with GNOME, so here is my question, what integrations, would Thunderbird need to have to be a suitable candidate for replacing the more basic Evolution (which currently has many integrations with the GNOME system)?

Hi Nikita,

Thunderbird would need to have proper support for notifications, GNOME Online Accounts (GOA) and use GTK3 instead of GTK2. Having two mail clients installed by default would also make the ISO bigger. Perhaps in the future, when then the above support has been added (if it fits with the Thunderbird developer milestones) it could replace Evolution. Until then, installing Thunderbird alongside Evolution is the only option.

By the way, when you say "proper support for notifications", do you mean proper integration with the GNOME notifications system (I am writing to them trying to get them to support these things you need so I need for you to clarify this, I can't be so vague to them)?
