Feedback on the Dell EMC PowerEdge R640

The information provided on https://certification.ubuntu.com/hardware/201706-25552 does only provide a couple of very old BIOS versions (1.0.7 and 1.6.5) which are not even listed anymore on the Dell Website.

What would be the "certified" set of iDRAC, BIOS, NICs, HDD/SSD, controller, firmware, etc. for the hardware components listed on the aforementioned web-page?

In absence of further specification/details from Ubuntu, can we assume the latest and greatest versions provided by Dell, although not "certified", would still be "supported" when installing Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64 Bit on a bare-metal PowerEdge R640?

Otherwise, are there any plans of certifying later versions?

Hi Marco.

The versions listed on the certificate are the versions used at the time the system was certified. Certification carries forward and we would fully expect that any future versions of Firmware would still work and not introduce regressions.

Thus, updates to Firmware do not invalidate certification, so if you have that machine with a later version of firmware, it should still be considered certified for the releases it has been certified against.
