Feedback on the HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen10

Asked by Richard Young

Hi,

For Generation 10 DL180 HPE Server how do we go about the installation?

Can we install on the Smart Array Controller P408i in a RAID-5 and is there a driver for this or should we run this on the SATA Controller onboard S100i?

Can you share the specifics on how install 18.04 LTS onto Gen10 HPE Servers?

Thanks,
Richard

There are several P408i controllers. The specific one that was in use when the DL180 Gen10 was tested was the P408i-a using the smartpqi module and the GA (4.15) kernel.

The system was installed using MAAS (Metal-as-a-Service), though there should be no difference between automated deployments via MAAS and manual deployments via ISO image.

In any case, the SmartPQI controllers are supported.

Is the smartpqi module a part of the kernel or a separate package that must be sourced and installed?

Thanks
