Dell EMC PowerEdge R440 - LTS vs 17.10 support
Dear Canonical team,
We are currently running a Dell PowerEdge R440 in production just pure OS no other applications, the server has a Dell EMC PERC10 RAID Controllers – H740p when we try to install the LTS version of Ubuntu the OS could not see the drives, when investigating we noticed that in the Ubuntu site there is information about the LTS Ubuntu version saying that it is supported on the R440, however, the RAID card H740 we have in the server is not supported. We tried to install the newer version of Ubuntu 17.10 kernel 4.13.0-32-generic and we were able to have the system running because of looks like the 17.10 support the RAID controller H740. The problem we are having now is that in the 17.10 there is an Out of Memory (OOM) regression crash every 8 hours or so, the memory starts increasing slowly until it reaches the maximum and the server crash completely. we are trying to find a patch or kernel upgrade to solve this problem but even though we installed all available updates as of today Feb 21th, 2018 the server still has the same problem. Any help will really appreciate it. We are thinking about installing Debian or Redhat but avoiding to re-install the whole OS will be ideal.
Thank you in advance.
In the meantime, we are all investigating.
