2. Sometime it has issue with novoeu graphics driver, at time of boot process it shows some problem related to irq. Nvidia never works. It goes to login loop.
3. Last time my network applet went away and I had to reinstall OS completely as it was in bootloop and sometime login loop. Also it went for a a garbled screen
4. auto restart sometimes
5. THe most occured problem which happens everyday is frozen boot.
Surprisingly WIndows 10 works perfectly. But I am Linux fan and I do all my dev activities in Ubuntu. So please help me out

Hi,

sorry to hear that you're facing those issues with your laptop.

Which version(s) of Ubuntu have you installed/tried?

Did you try to install the proprietary nVidia drivers?

Some of the issues you mention suggest it could be a hardware problem (I personally had that a while ago on a laptop, and it turned out it was a nVidia disfunction and the motherboard/graphic card had to be changed), but on the other hand you say it works fine on Windows, so I'm a bit confused...

I tried 14.04
Proprietary nvidia caused more problem and had to remove that and I could avoid login loop.
In windows 10 nvidia worked well.also in askubuntu I had seen these problems and ppl had remove and use xorg.but that makes system GPU not utilised. If you have any tool to trace bug , let me know .I will test it out and submit the dump.

Hi,

I've checked on the Ubuntu Certification website and I'm not sure which model you are using:

http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/desktop/models/?query=HP+envy+15&category=Desktop&category=Laptop

It looks that these devices have all been certified with a pre-installed OEM version of Ubuntu 12.04, not the stock image of Ubuntu 14.04.

Did you buy this device with Ubuntu pre-installed?

A few things you can try:
- check with the latest versions of Ubuntu. Ubuntu 15.10, or even Ubuntu 16.04 (still in alpha for now, but you can try it using a live USB for instance)
- contact HP to ask for the OEM image for your device (it will be Ubuntu 12.04 though, from what it looks on the Ubuntu certification website listed above)

I am using http://www.hpshopping.in/HP_Envy_15-ae008tx_Laptop

Ubuntu didn't come preinstalled. I had tried with 15 and 16/series of Ubuntu images. But the problem didn't go away. I have seen these problems reported by other people in askubuntu and in Ubuntu bugs. As I followed the discussion, although Ubuntu developer said this is solved but in reality there are persistent till now.

I'm afraid this device has not been certified by Canonical.

The two things I would suggest would be:

- Try to install the latest version of Ubuntu (15.10).
- If the same problems happen on 15.10, use the `ubuntu-bug` tool to report bugs.

To report a bug with `ubuntu-bug`, open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type "ubuntu-bug" followed by the Enter key.

This tool will ask you a few questions and collect the needed information, then create a bug in Launchpad. It can then be investigated by the different teams.

Hope this will help!
