Dell Inspiron 15R (N5110) is not really certified , ubutnu still suffers from bugs on it , that's just disrespect , i mistakenly throw 600 $ on the air because of you !!!!
2days ago I was looking for an Ubuntu compatible laptop so I searched on Ubuntu certified laptops section and I found dell inspiron 15r (n5110) which I was perfectly suited my needs so I headed to the nearest pc shop near us and bought it with about 600$ , so I put Ubuntu 12.04 into it and I was expecting that everything will just work out of the box or maybe with little work (because it's Ubuntu Certified) and to my surprise I found that touchpad is wrongly detected as mouse (ps/2 generic mouse) so i'm unable to do multi-touch gastures on it and for me the laptop is just useless with this bug as I use it mostly on crowded places where where is no room to use usb mouse
so right now i'm now pissed as hell on ubutnu guys , why putting a non-certified laptop on your certified laptops section , I just throw 600$ on the air because of you
for a continuous 36 hours , 6 cups of coffee , I searched every possible solution but simply there is no one (this type of touchpad is not supported yet by "Ubuntu" a confirmed bug
https:/
so right now I demand 2 things because I fell like I have been deceived , the first is to remove that laptop model from certified laptops section to prevent others from doing the same mistake I did .
the second demand is to release a patch for this problem ( by reverse engineer that touchpad protocol as I heard there's similar alps touchpads solved by independce people but since Ubuntu announced that this is a certified laptop so I think this become it's problem (ubutnu is a big company and It won't be hard for them)
I hope there is fast replay from canonical because that is just disrespect for users :(
