Feedback on the Asus EeePC 1015PX

Asked by pvt

I have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my 1015PX as this version was 'certified'. My problem is that even though I'm only browsing the Internet using Firefox, the computer is constantly at 70ºC or higher (I am using 'acpi -t' to check it). I already have the latest BIOS version (1401) and all the vents on the laptop are clean. I know the temperature when idle should be much lower (the laptop came with win7 and it ran cooler). Additionally, the laptop's bluetooth module is not detected.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, You may want to check at the community support sites listed on the linked FAQ... the 1015PX is a fairly common EeePC model and there may be some workarounds or additional information there.

The 1015PX is not certified for 12.04 but you may have better luck with that, or trying the latest beta for 12.10 available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current

Hope that helps.
