Feedback on the Certification test suite - a call for crowd-sourcing

Hi,
I looked at the test-suite and wondered why we (Canonical & users) are not crowd-sourcing the testing process?

I read the reply on https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-certification/+question/184800 that certifications are only done when manufacturers request it, but why not make two lists then? Ubuntu Certified &, Ubuntu User-Tested. I'm sure the community would appreciate that.

Hereby Ubuntu would be validated on more hardware, including its usage of auxillary equipment such as printers, usb-drives, etc.
In addition, fancy new hardware could be tested quickly (quicker)...?

For example I wouldn't mind running the test suite on my 8 machines, so that others could benefit from the additional knowledge.

It turns out, there *is* a community-driven Ubuntu testing initiative called Ubuntu Friendly. Users can run tests (that are a subset of the ones run for certification, basically so that the testing is not so cumbersome; we certainly wouldn't want to burden community members with the hours-long certification test suite) and submit their results, which get aggregated per-system, so ratings and relevant notes can be shared by community.
