How do I install software in Ubuntu?
Software is installed using software center. In recent versions of Ubuntu (using Unity) such as Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04 LTS, you can launch the software center by clicking the shopping bag icon in the launcher, or opening the application lens and searching for "Software Center".
The Software Center will allow you to install many applications and libraries for development and other uses.
