Question: I see that something like the following when looking at a system that has been listed as certified:
The _______________ has been awarded the status of Certified on Ubuntu 64-bit PC (x86_64).
Does that mean (L|X|K|U)buntu (Desktop|Server) was used to certify my system?
Answer: When a system is officially certified to work with Ubuntu, one of two versions is used. Desktops, Laptops and Netbooks are all certified using Ubuntu (the desktop edition ISO). Server systems are all certified using Ubuntu Server Edition. Additionally, as of Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) Desktops, Laptops and Netbooks are certified using the 32bit version of Ubuntu and Servers are certified using the 64bit version of Ubuntu Server Edition.
