sqlci generates core dump

Asked by Sohan Sangwan

I installed trafodion successfully, ran sqlci and executed several sql queries. Then I restarted the system and ran sqlci.
This time sqlci generated core dump as follows:

[trafodion@node1 scripts]$ sqlci
sqlci ($<unkwn>-6783-6783): msmon.cpp:4768 int msg_mon_process_startup_ph1(bool): Assertion 'gp_local_mon_io != NULL' '(0 != 0)' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

Could someone help how to resolve this issue ?

When you say "restarted the system" that could mean anything from a reboot to just simply restarting Trafodion. Could you elaborate on what you did to restart the system?

The error you are getting from sqlci seems like Trafodion is not up and running. If you did something like a reboot, then Trafodion will not be running after the reboot and must be restarted by typing "sqstart" from the trafodion userid.

"sqcheck" is a command that will check to see if Trafodion is up and running.

You could also try "ckillall" and then "sqstart" to attempt to cleanly restart Trafodion, and then try the "sqlci" command.

Hi Marvin,

Thank you for response. I shutdown the system and rebooted it.

Ok I will try ckillall and sqstart commands. Even though if Trafodion is
not up, it should not cause core dump. It should throw some proper error
message.

Regards,
Sohan

I've added the following bug for this problem:

Bug #1352419: sqlci cores when started if Trafodion is down

Until that bug is fixed, the current workaround would be to start Trafodion with "sqstart" command.

Thank you Marvin.

By mistake I also reported the same bug(#1352667) as I did not see your mail. Please close it as duplicate.

I also tried to change its status as duplicate. But I could not find any such status.

Sohan
