I was just about to ask the same question. Adding Dropbox integration tom TomDroid would make a lot of sense and for me would finally replace both evernote and Onenote.

I also agree that today Dropbox integration is necessary.
Very applications use Dropbox API to authenticate and sync files. E.g. dropsync use a mechanism to sync any folder with Dropbox. but the free version can only sync 1 folder.

Sure, Dropbox is now a standard #1 cloud service, so integration of Tomdroid < --- > Dropbox < --- > Tomboy
would be highly desirable option for Tomdroid.

I tried to synch Tomdroid to dropbox hidden folder on android, it did not work...

Next, I was trying to link the two through Dropsync app, like this:
Tomdroid (droid ) + SD card sync ( droid )< --- Dropsync ( droid ) < -- > Dropbox < -- > HD synch ( linux ) + Tomboy Notes ( linux )
could not make it work.

But actually I think the best option is to sync with BTsync, because it's secure p2p and no cloud storage is needed
Tomdroid < -- > BTsynch < -- > Tomboy
Next I tried syncing through BTsync like this:
Tomdroid (droid ) + SD card sync ( droid )< --> BTsync ( droid / linux ) < -- > HD synch ( linux ) + Tomboy Notes ( linux )
so far it does not work either.

As far as webdav, it's too complicated for average user to setup, for instance I could not make basic webdav to work
reliably on my linux machine + tomboy generates errors when synching with webdav, the method is clunky.

All in all:
1. dropbox - should be easy but not secure
2. dropbox / dropsync - overkill
3. btsync - the best, secure syncing

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply,
Did the previous comments answer your question?

Officially, there is no support for Dropbox sync. I never tried it and therefor also did not test if and how it works. However, there are some people doing it - so it seems to work somehow :-)

For the future, we (Tomboy developers) work to implement a consistent Cloud sync service using the according APIs of Dropbox/GDrive/OneDrive/... Then it should be very easy to do!

Cheers,
Stefan

@Stefan
Hi! All I'm trying to do is to change my TomDroid's location to my local Dropbox location on my phone - is that not possible ?

I have solved this by using an app from the PlayStore called Dropsync. This can be set up to synchronise any file in any location on your Android phone with Dropbox.
However, although it works fine, for some reason I cannot fathom, files put into the Tomdroid folder at /storage/emulated/0/tomdroid/ don't show up in Tomdroid, it only sees those it has put there itself. Any note created in Tomdroid appears there, and does show up in my Linux Tomboy.

Can you help with this problem?
