Update on Sync Options

With the disappearance last week of catch.com and AKnotepad, I've been hunting for a SIMPLE note tool that would also easily sync between my Linux PC and my Android JB phone. Wow. I had no idea it would be this tough.

Having been burned once by catch.com, I really want my data synced to a machine that I control, not to the ubiquitous "cloud." I really don't want to sign up for Dropbox, or similar services. For instance - like Ubuntu One, which was being used for syncs like this, but apparently is no longer available.

My first choice would be to sync via my own web server space (at Dreamhost). I thought that Tomboy's WebDAV feature would allow that, but apparently not. Does TomDroid offer some way for me to do this??

My second choice is to just back up Tomdroid on my Android phone to Tomboy on my Mint Linux PC via USB. Apparently that is also not possible, even though my Palm Pilot did it fifteen years ago.

I'm just amazed that it seems to hard to sync data back and forth between devices without using a commerical service to do it.

We developed a server program which can only sync Tomboy notes - even with Tomdroid.
