What about KDE (Kubuntu)

Asked by Bjwebb

Nice idea, and I would try it, only nautilus etc. are dependencies and im running a KDE system (Kubuntu). Obviosuly, I understand, that it is like this at the moment because it is beta software, and it is integrated into the filemanager. However, would you consider making a similar program, but with KDE integartion for all us KDE/Kubuntu users. Just so you know, these are the dependencies that aren't satisfied on my Kubuntu system:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of timevault:
 timevault depends on gksu; however:
  Package gksu is not installed.
 timevault depends on nautilus; however:
  Package nautilus is not installed.
 timevault depends on gnome-terminal; however:
  Package gnome-terminal is not installed.
 timevault depends on python-nautilus; however:
  Package python-nautilus is not installed.
 timevault depends on python-gobject-dev; however:
  Package python-gobject-dev is not installed.
 timevault depends on unionfs-tools; however:
  Package unionfs-tools is not installed.
 timevault depends on zenity; however:
  Package zenity is not installed.
 timevault depends on python-pysqlite2; however:
  Package python-pysqlite2 is not installed.
 timevault depends on python-gamin; however:
  Package python-gamin is not installed.
dpkg: error processing timevault (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 timevault

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Ben.

The back-end is relatively WindowManager agnostic. The most GNOMEish features it uses are gobject (to make use of idle-processing) and DBus (for communicating with clients), and both of these are used in many KDE-friendly apps.

Clients talk to the TimeVault daemon via DBus, so it should be easy to write a KDE client for it, however I don't have a lot of experience programming in KDE so I will probably have to wait until the GNOME version is released before I can start working on it.
