Asked by SourceContact

You should try accessing the directory it was contained in and opening a previous version of that. Or, if it's the top-level directory that is being backed up, you can use to the Management interface in System->Admin->Manage Snapshots to open up a snapshot root.

My problem is similar in that I FORMATTED the partition which I backed up. How do I recover from that please?

It is almost certain that you will not be able to recover a whole drive via TV (since you can't back up a whole drive with TV), but I understand you to mean that you are looking to get your documents back.

If you can install TimeVault on the new OS, you can configure it to use the old location in General->Snapshots Root Directory. Then, opening the snapshot browser should allow you to access all the old files (if the needed data is still in that directory: i.e. the catalog and internal directories).

There is no general "Restore all files to the latest version" option, I'm afraid, but you can individually restore the files (or multiselect and restore many at a time).
