Timer Applet

Can I use the timer-applet in other panels?

I can run the kteatime timer as a command, and that works in other panels (LXPanel and tint2 that I've tried). Is there any way to do this with the gnome timer applet? I've tried adding panel applets to LXPanel, but it doesn't show up in the list.

If so, that would would make the applet useful to a lot more people. There's a lack of good timers for Linux (kteatime is okay, but is a little awkward, so I wanted to try something different). I'm a fan of the LXDE modular approach :-).

I am not sure if you can use Timer Applet for multiple panels, but its primarily focused to the GNOME panel.

Btw, I know this isn't the focus of the project, so "I don't know" is fair enough - just saying that the question is still open.

Timer Applet only works on the GNOME panel. All other panels don't, because the panel bindings are different. Does this answer your question?

It would be nice if we could support Timer Applet on different panels, but I don't know how much effort this would be and if that effort is reasonable.

Now there's an option to run Timer Applet as a stand-alone window, by checking out the source, compiling it and running "./src/timer-applet -w". Note that the "-w" flag is required.

Thanks, that's very helpful. It may not be the ideal solution for me just now, but it's good to know what need to do if I want to try it.
