I too would benefit greatly from a quicker way to start a preset. Double-clicking would be cool, but what about this:

Each timer-applet icon added to the panel can be assigned to a preset, and the duration of the preset is displayed as a big number over the icon. Clicking (or double-clicking or something) an icon starts the timer.

I propose this because I always use many timers of different durations one after the other, and having them all visible and understandable on the panel would make things much easier.

What do you think? Is is feasible?

Thanks for your feedback! This motivatedm me to finally work on this one.

I don't like the of assigning a timer-applet instance to a preset. That sounds unnecessarily complicated.
Instead assigning a preset to a timer-applet instance is more reasonable.
Also, the big number over the icon is not possible if you have a small panel height.

What about this: Double-clicking the panel icon automatically starts the last used preset?

Please, define "understandable". That would help me a lot.
It's really cool to know how others use timer-applet! So, thanks for that!
