As a non-technical user, TestDrive is not simple or obvious to use.

Asked by Eric

I'm trying to use TestDrive to obtain the latest Ubuntu 18.04LTS Image, preferably through the GUI. TestDrive can't be downloaded via Ubuntu Software, only via

$ sudo apt-get install testdrive

TestDrive doesn't give an icon to start the GUI, only runs via command line. I can't find an embedded manual file, and therefore have no idea what flags to append. When I run

$ testdrive

the only option is:

1. Other (prompt for ISO URL)

If I knew the URL, I wouldn't need TestDrive, right?

Either use the command
man testdrive
or look at
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/bionic/en/man1/testdrive.1.html
for basic Information.

and the GUI version is started with the command
testdrive-gtk

Thanks, that's 90% of what I need. How does the list of .iso files get populated? With the command line version, I tried

$ testdrive -p /local/version.iso

and, among other things, got
AttributeError: Testdrive instance has no attribute 'u'
which is effectively gibberish to me

Can you help with this problem?
