terminator in a terminal as a gnu screen replacement?

Will there be a version to be used from SSH in a terminal? This can be a cool tool to use as a screen replacement.

Not really. Terminator will die if you log out your X session. Screen will still be there detached.

Look at tmux <http://sourceforge.net/projects/tmux> if you're after a screen replacement, or xpra <http://partiwm.org/wiki/xpra> if you want the equivilent for X.

Thanks! I guess i am looking for a python version of screen (so that
i can hack it to my desire) ... maybe i should write one...

I'll second tmux. The multiple panes (split windows) is great. Additionally, most of the keybindings are similar to screen's keybindings, so the learning curve is pretty low.
