Support real transparency?

Do you have something to do to support real transparency just as gnome-terminal does? Or is a limitation of python libvte, or is it something to do with compiz?

In the currently released version (0.8.1) we do not support full transparency in a compositing window manager, however, the current development version does support this and it will be released as 0.9 in the coming weeks.
