should the version of tacker match the other components of openstack ?

Asked by zhping

I used OPNFV(fuel) as the openstack, It's version is Liberty, and I install tacker into it via manual installation, the version of tacker is Liberty, it worked well. Now I want some service of tacker, but they were only supported in Mitaka version.
Can I manual install Mitaka version of tacker into an openstack whose version is Liberty ? Can it well worked ?

I want the tosca-parser function of tacker(version mitaka), but I worry about that the heat-translator was not supported in Heat in Liberty version.

If the heat-translator function is not implemented, the tosca template samples in tacker repo can not be used ?

Hi zhping,

Tosca templates is supported starting from Tacker's mitaka version only. If you are using OpenStack liberty , you could register that as a VIM using tacker's multisite feature. You can then use Tosca templates to deploy VNFs on OpenStack liberty site.

But, I find that tosca-parser is referenced by heat-translator, openstack's liberty version did not support heat-translator feature, So I worry about that tosca template can not work well.

TOSCA templates are not supported by Tacker in the Liberty release, and also depend on the Mitaka versions of tosca-parser and heat-translator.

I would not expect them to work in Liberty.
