Doesnt wake up from screen saver

I will clarify - I am bringing it out of the screen saver mode by moving the mouse, or hitting a key. It is not coming out on its own. I have turned off all power mode setting.

Run this command just for good measure. It will fix another know bug that acts similarly...
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-intrepid

Also, what screensaver are you using? There is one (I think it is Flying Toasters, but I'm not absolutely sure) that segfaults and breaks things. Or, if you using the "Random" setting, it could be landing on the dud screensaver on occasion.

I would suggest changing your screensaver to Ant Spotlight and see if the problem recurs.

Finally, does your computer display this behavior every time, or is it intermittent.

I am (was) using "smoke" and have since turned it off. This is a very reproducible problem and even though it is turned off, it is still effecting my net connections. My Network Manger is not reliable anymore for wireless. Going to reinstall.

I'm sure that the screensaver isn't responsible for problems with your network connection. You may have some problem going on that is affecting your networking.

Installed wicd t 1.5.8 to resolve my flacky wireless connection issues.

We can close this for now. My biggest issue with this was that because I had to keep force quitting by power cycling, I think it was corrupting my network manager. I have since uninstalled it and loaded Wicd Manager which works wonderfully.
