Suspend Mode does not work

Asked by Brendan Shean

When I select the suspend mode from the Gnome menu, the system goes into suspend mode, as expected. When I try to wake the system, the hard disk begins cycling, but there is no response from the monitor.

Note: I had the same problem with Kubuntu, so I decided to reinstall back to the factory settings, but no solutions were found.

I forgot to add that in order to wake the system up from suspend mode, I push the power button.

Customer's computer is a WIL-P5.

Suspend does work on our shop WIL-P5. When you re-installed Ubuntu, did you install 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, does Hibernate work?

HI Brendan,

I was asked to Join this discussion, I am having the exact same issue as you.

  my details are.

I have a Wildog5 with Hardy Heron 64bit workstation and I have noticed that suspend is no longer working for me. The system will go into suspend but not return from the suspend state when I press power button. I am currently on the latest -21 kernel. (however this was broke for me I know as far back as the -17 kernel.) I had problems updating earlier with grub and menu.lst which I I have nowresolved.

Hibernate does work for me as well, but takes a while to finish.
My bios for pwr management is set to S3

Can you help with this problem?
