I just received a meerkat nettop computer and the fan is continuously on even at startup, and is quite loud.

My new Meerkat Nettop's fan is always on and is a bit distracting. I have seen some comments here and there on the web, but nothing that I feel addresses the problem fully. I know a little (a very little) Linux, so should be considered a newbie, however, I am not afraid to delve into the operating system if need be. In fact this is why I switched to Linux, because I want to be able to "fix" problems when they arise.

Overall, I am quite happy with my purchase. I just find the noise to be distracting.

Thanks for the question. The fan you're hearing is a case fan. Since the Meerkat doesn't have a dedicated CPU fan, the case fan is installed to create airflow and keep the computer cool.
