Could we move to github?

While launchpad is a nice place to host code, I feel like moving to git on github will open the project to a whole new ecosystem of eager developers willing to help.

I know of quite a few people who use synapse but are not bothered to contribute due to being unfamiliar with bazaar (myself once included - and I am still struggling).

There's for example https://github.com/antono/synapse and a few plugins were developed on github. Bottomline, if you're serious about contributing, you always find a way.

Is that an official github mirror? I.e. does opening a pull request on that page get looked over by the core team and merged in etc..? if that's the case then that will work just fine, but otherwise the issue of being less accessible to other developers still remains.

There is no official git repo available, so the mentioned github repo is not supported and not up2date.

Having an official git repo on launchpad which gets mirrored to github is of course an option for the future.
So as mhr3 said if someone wants to contribute patches they will find a way.

Wouldn't that mean that finding a way to contribute upstream would require you to use bzr though? It's nice to hear that you are open to the idea to an official github mirror :)
