Are communication between proxy nodes and storage nodes restful API?

Are communication between proxy nodes and storage nodes restful API?

If not, what are the communication protocols between nodes within Swift cluster?

yes, the SW arch and comm model between clients and the proxy is the same as between the proxy and the storage node but its not a public API (for use by anything other than proxies or other storage nodes).
