Shortcut for switching between landscapes

Asked by Sarah Edwards

First of all, thanks for this amazing software. I would like to use it in an educational setting, but I need to simplify the GUI - ideally to a set of buttons - landscape 1, landscape 2 etc, + time forward and time back. I see that there are shortcut buttons for several functions, eg time, which I can map easily. Can any one help me as to how I might simply switching landscape down to something hotkey-able?

Additionally, in landscapes I click 'Position from Landscape' but this setting is never remembered. Any clues? 0.21.3 so possibly an upgrade will fix.

Thanks!

A quick solution: writing few scripts to loading one landscape in each one script and assign shortcuts for these scripts. Stellarium doesn't have a special shortcust for choose landscapes or sky cultures.

Did you save the settings after changes settings?

Thank you!
I did not realise I had to exit the landscape dialogue and save the settings else where.
I will look into scripting, its good to know a short cut can be assigned.
All the Best,
Sarah

So, re: loading landscapes from short cut keys... I have spoken to our coder human, and he says: "The problem is, the scripting interface doesn't actually have keyboard input so that makes things tricky"

Can anyone help here? Is there a work around?
This was the suggestion from Alex Wolf above:

You must read more carefully. Write a few scripts that switch landscapes and assign them to hotkeys. This does not involve reading keypresses from inside of scripts which is in fact not available.

Will rephrase: Can't see anything in the documentation that would allow us to trigger a script to run from a shortcut/hotkey? How do we assign a shortcut/hotkey to a script?

Could some kind person point us in the right direction?

We are both heavily dyslexic so its possible we have missed it

Thanks!

A few scripts in default package already have assigned shortcuts/hotkeys - see western_constellations_tour.ssc script for example. Other way - press F7 (Shortcut Editor) and assign the hotkey.

In the Stellarium User Guide you may see these suggestions in section 4.8 and chapter 17.

I want to use it in a classroom, but I need to simplify the user interface (GUI). Ideally, there should only be a set of buttons for landscape 1, landscape 2, etc., plus forward and backwards. I can quickly map the shortcut buttons I see for many other functions, such as time. Can somebody tell me how I can just change the landscape to anything on this page? https://opportunitiesinfo.com/

Can you help with this problem?
