show only major planet orbits in Solar System Observer mode?

Asked by Paul McCudden

Is there a way to show only the eight major planets (and their orbits and markers) while in Solar System Observer mode? I use Stellarium in my Astronomy class and showing the Solar System from above is useful, but the clutter of dozens of asteroid orbits obscures things. I know I can choose a different color for the major planet orbits, but that's not enough - I want to suppress the display of everything except the major planet orbits while in Solar System Observe mode and can't figure out how to do it. I think this used to work in older version of the program, but I'm not sure. I'm using the latest 0.90.0.9808 trunk version. Thanks.

No, it's not possible at the moment, but I'll add this mode.

There is a simple workaround.
Create an empty file, then use the Solar System editor plugin to import and replace the ssystem_minor.ini with this empty file.

When you need the minor planets, you can import them again from the original file.

I've added a patch for this issue, so, you might test it in next beta.
