Telescope Control in Linux/Debian

Asked by darethehair

After configuring Stellarium for my iOptron SmartStar-A GOTO telescope mount (using 8402A GotoNova controller) via the 'directly through the serial port' and port '/dev/ttyUSB0', there is no evidence that the mount is actually being controlled (e.g. by 'slewing') by Stellarium. This is with version 10.6. The log doesn't say much, but looks OK:

Loaded plugin "TelescopeControl" .
TelescopeControl: No telescope server directory has been found.
TelescopeControl: Only embedded telescope servers are available.
Creating telescope "iOptron:TelescopeServerLx200:J2000:/dev/ttyUSB0:1500000" ; name/type/equinox/params: "iOptron" "TelescopeServerLx200" J2000 "/dev/ttyUSB0:1500000"
TelescopeClientDirectLx200 paramaters: port, time_delay: "/dev/ttyUSB0" 1500000
TelescopeControl: Loaded successfully 1 telescopes.

Does this version also support 'indiserver' (0.8)? Would that be used in the 'external software of remote computer' option?

How can I verify communication is truly working properly?

Thanks!

My understanding is that the iOptron telescopes have their own protocol, which we do not support. You may be able to use either the INDI or ASCOM interfaces for this.

Can you help with this problem?
