No SSL?

Asked by Alexandria Marie Wolcott

In reviewing the blueprints related to SSL, there are a lot of "It's useless" type comments. Why exactly do you take such an antissl stance for the coding of SpartaX?

Sparta Project, as well as Chazz Wolcott (Lead developer of SpartaX), agree that SSL is only actually useful on IRC in the following scenario:

*) All clients connecting to the IRC network are using SSL
*) All servers on the IRC network are using SSL
*) All clients either do not log, or are encrypting their logs
*) All IRCds and related software are encrypting their logs, or not logging

Since none of the members of Sparta Project have EVER seen a network which fits the above scenario, we have taken the stance that SSL is mostly pointless.
