how often should i report a recurring bug?

Asked by bob eback

I have been running ubuntu 12.04 through the alpha phase and now into beta. at various points in the development, bug #988772 (will not shutdown) becomes fixed, then not fixed. it would be easy for me to report each day whether or not shutdown is working, but 1) i do not want to annoy the launchpad crew, and 2) my lack of experience in these matters make me unsure of what level of completeness and exactitude is required for such reports. I also remember that when i originally filed this bug, i was asked to sign up some sor t of apport situation where i would allow some data from my computer to be available to the launchpad crew; I allowed for one day. I could just as easily extend this setting for a week or a month. How do i get back to the oint where i make that choice? Bottom line, should i report, or not report? Thank You, Bob Eback

You just report once, it's the same issue. You could add an update to the same bug after each kernel update.

Hi Bob and Andrew. I actually can't view bug 988772. Is it set to private, by chance? I ask because, by the description above, this doesn't sound like a software-center issue and so I am wondering why it has been switch to a question for software-center package. Please let me know, thanks!

And if I can be of any help, please let me know that too. :)
