Adding software to Software Center Installed Software

Asked by Eric Roberts

I had to install some software manually because the version that Ubuntu has in the software center is an old version. As a result, it doesn't come up in the list of installed software and I don;t have a way (that i know of) to add an icon to the Launcher. Is there a way to add it? In particular, this is Eclipse and SQL Explorer. The version of eclipse in the software center doesn't support the addins I require so i had to manually install the current version. I am normally a windows guy, so, while I do know my way around Linux, I am not an expert. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Eric

Hi Eric, thanks for your question. The easiest way to add an icon to the launcher is to open the application and you will see the application's icon appear in the launcher. Simply right-click on that icon and choose "Keep in Launcher". That should do it! Let us know if this doesn't work or if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Can you help with this problem?
