Simple scan has wrong paper/page size

Asked by ralphl

I am running simple-scan 3.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 using an HP Photosmart c6180 all-in-one. While it scans fine, all the scans are 8.5x14 inches even when I am scanning 8.5x11 paper. I tried setting the Preferences to 8.5x11, but it still scanned at 8.5x14. Is this problem fixed in version 3.6.0? If so, please give me instructions for installing 3.6.0 into Ubuntu 12.04.1. When I attempt, I get the error messages below, and I don't know how to fix them. Is there any other workaround for this problem. I have seen it on a number of web sites so I am not the only one having the problem.

the newer versions of the deb package cannot be installed on 12.04
you should be able to build from source as explained here https://github.com/mnagel/simple-scan

please check if this is your issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/simple-scan/+bug/550856
