Edit Screenshot: "Add some text" not working?

Asked by tp42

Hi there,
first of all, what great software! I switched from MacOS X to Ubuntu and was really hard looking for such an extended screenshot tool. I found it with Shutter -thanks a lot :-)
After working with Shutter version 0.70 (Rev.392 - ppa11) on Ubuntu 8.10 (patch state is up today) I stumble over the function "Add some text" in the Edit Screenshot menu (Ctr-E). When I click on "Add some text" the rectangle with "Add some text" appears on the screenshot, I could even move and resize therectangle, but I have found no way yet to type some text in. Working with "Draw a line", "Insert a picture" , "Censor a picture" etc. works flawless.
Did I miss something while working with "Add some text", any hints ?
Thanks in advance,
Thomas

I am glad you like it.

To change the text you need to right-click on the text object and hit 'Properties'. A new dialog opens where you can manipulate the text.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Greetings
Mario

Dear Mario,
thanks a lot for the quick hint. Indeed, I missed the "Properties". Now it works fine :-)

By the way, so i I think this rather feature suggestion: Would it be possible that, when rectangle with "Add text" appears, that I just click in the rectangle and so I could just start to type in my text?

Best regards,
Thomas

I think clicking would be done too much accidentally, but double-clicking
sounds good.

Vadim,
indeed, double-clicking is the better solution. I fully agree :-)

Hi,

I had the same problem and could not get to the menu by doing right click is not working for me.

First I had to reset the writing tool by either:
 * Clicking in the arrow that is the first icon in the tools bar on the left, or
 * Pushing the Escape key, or
 * Goint to the upper menu of the edit window, clicking Edit and then clicking Stop.

Hope it helps.

Shutter is great :-)
