For a selection, how do I get rid of the on-screen instructions

For a selection, a set of instructions (hints) appears in a box with a black background. And, with these instructions on the screen, often I cannot see the portion of the screen I want to capture. How can I get rid of the instructions / hints?

Hello Roger,

It's simple, go to Edit → Preferences → Advanced and in Selection Capture untick "Show help text".
