Unable to create profile, unable to make new "Save" folder sticky

Using v0.85.1, Rev 725 with Ubuntu 10.04 AMD64 I am unable to create any profiles and when I change the "Save" folder it reverts to the default when the program restarts. (Sometimes there's a message box when the program opens, but it's so brief it's impossible for me to read.) I created ~/Capture and when that didn't stick I tried using one of the pre-defined folders ~/Pictures with the same result.

I tried to fix it on my own by copying ~/.shutter/settings.xml to ~/.shutter/profiles/ and renaming it to terry.xml. This did provide an entry in the profiles selection box, and the program created terry_accounts.xml, but any change I made to the "Save" folder was lost when the program restarted. Other changes, e.g. file type and Window Preferences are "sticky". I also tried editing terry.xml manually to point to the new "Save" folder, but the changes reverted when the program restarted.

I installed Shutter via Synaptic. I tried a complete removal and re-installation, but the problem persists.

I hope you can help: this is, otherwise, a very useful tool.

The simplest way ist to install the latest version of Shutter. The bugs
are fixed here.

Done, but it only allowed me to create and save profiles. The "Save" folder is still not sticky: it reverts to the default when the program restarts. Perhaps a judicious application of Raid? :o)

Did you remove the .shutter folder in your home directory? Does this
make any difference?
Did you really quit Shutter (Ctrl+Q) after changing the preferences?

I had not deleted it, but I have now, and it made no difference. After installing the newest version I unchecked "Minimize to tray..." and when I closed Shutter the icon disappeared from the Gnome notification area, so I assume I actually closed it. To be sure, I just recreated the two profiles (identical except for the file type) and exited via File / Quit. I regret to report no change in behaviour.

I wondered whether my use of an upper-case character in the "Save" folder name was a problem, so I changed it. It had no effect, but I did notice that changing the "Save" folder for a profile (and saving the profile) doesn't survive changing the "Save" folder for the other profile: after I saved the second profile and reloaded the first one the "Save" folder had reverted to the default.

But wait: there's more....

For an unknown reason - perhaps the way I was doing things - the program now seems to be working as advertised.

The Save folder is part of the profile. Please make sure you save the
profile after altering some of the settings before switching to another
profile. The settings are only automatically saved to a profile if you
quit Shutter and this profile is currently active. (I hope this sounds
not too weird).
