Ubuntu Package Confussion

Hey,

I am excited to try out Scratch (text editor), but when I tried to install from the elementary/os PPA on Ubuntu 12.10 what ends up happening is the Scratch (programming environment) from the MIT project gets installed instead. Just wondering if anyone else noticed that. Looks like I'll have to install from source. If someone knows a way around this, that would be awesome.

you should install scratch-text-editor package to have Scratch :)

I get this either way I try installing:

patrick@patmack:~$ sudo apt-get install scratch-text-editor

I got exactly the same result as post #2 above. I got some good help from "tom95" on the #elementary IRC channel, though.

The elementary-stable repo is still for Ubuntu 12.04, and I'm on 13.04. I needed to use the ppa:elementary-os/daily repo to get Scratch, but it installed just fine once I sourced it from /daily.

Regarding warnings, tom95 noted: "generally speaking the independent components, speak apps, are very stable, even in the daily ppa. They're most of the time just a few revisions ahead of the stable one : as long as you stay away from the system components there's not a lot that could go wrong"
