No. SchoolTool is a Zope 3 application, which is currently incompatible with Zope 2.

No, SchoolTool is a Zope 3 application, and Zope 3 applications cannot be used as Zope 2 products.

is there any effort known to implement some of the core schooltool functions like the calendar via five as a plone product?

No. Calendar is the part that is not under active development at the moment, as it is not that important in SIS (it is important, but there are a lot of more important things). And - we are not developing a set of reusable components for everyone, but rather trying to focus on developing a working and usable SIS, so unless someone from outside will do this - I am afraid it won't happen.

Just to clarify a bit -- we had to ignore bugs in the calendar for (quite) a while to get the SIS functionality working. If things go well, we'll now be able to focus on bugfixing and refinements in general, for the SIS AND calendar functionality. So these bugs aren't going to the top of the queue, but it is definitely worth reporting them, and I certainly hope we can get to some of them this summer.
