Possible to edit Attendance Journal terms (a, t, and more...)?

I would like to be able to record slightly different information in the attendance journal - maybe 's' for sick, 'h' for holiday, 'u' for unauthorised absence - and include a column that calculates the percentage attendance during the lifespan of that section.
