No backup notification / progress indicator on Ubuntu 16.04 (Unity)

Asked by Tomás Manzano Galán

Hi,

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 I can't see sbackup icon/progress report at the top bar when performing a backup. I installed "Indicator Systemtray Unity" to support other applications and the icon didn't show there either. Currently there's no apparent way to know the progress of an ongoing operation.

I also want to say I find this little tool the most valuable one for user backups. Balance between ease of use and setup ability is great.

I think either this is still an issue or I'm missing something. Anyone?

I have the same problem, the indicator on a fresh and clean 16.04 installation is missing. That's kind of annoying. A forced backup works, can't say anything about scheduled ones, but my guess is, that I won't see the indicator either.

I noticed the problem on 16.10 and the bug remains in 17.04.

This is due to the bug #1582080 . The problem is that from ubuntu 16.04, the right to see the Desktop Session environment has been restricted. A fix is to committed http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~sbackup-dev/sbackup/0.11/revision/287

You might be able to apply it on your system manually.

Can you help with this problem?
